Dr Carolina Sportelli
Carolina is a Clinical Research Coordinator responsible for managing an agreed portfolio of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials. She has an important role in patient recruitment and retention, data collection and coordination of the CRISP expert patient group. Carolina first joined the EUROPAR team as a Research Administrator in late 2018 whilst she was writing her PhD thesis. She was mainly involved in data management for commercial and non-commercial studies and also assisted with the daily research agenda.
Carolina has a background in Biological sciences and has completed her MSc in Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology. She has also been working on basic neuroscience research for the past 4 years and just completed her viva examination for her PhD, focusing on investigating the role of autophagy and mitochondrial dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease.
Carolina has published some peer reviewed papers and presented her work at conferences and is currently applying for clinical grants for a potential new clinical trial in REM behaviour disorder, which is in line with her research interests.
