The Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist (PDSN) online support platform is a weekly virtual meeting. The platform was launched to discuss the best approaches to management of people with Parkinson’s (PwP) during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a is a great example of the collaboration between PDSN and the Parkinson’s research team at King’s College Hospital. These meetings also offer support, advice and a platform to share information concerning the impact of COVID-19 on Parkinson’s disease (PD).

There have been talks from key opinion leaders such as Professor Ray Chaudhuri, Head of the Centre of Excellence, who provided the platform with up-to-date academic talks on the impact of COVID-19 and other viruses on PD based on the current evidence.

Miriam Parry, member of the Parkinson’s research team, said “During the 10 weeks that we have been running the platform, we have also had some amazing national and international speakers who gave us insight into the many services for PwP, including nutrition, palliative care, support groups management of stress and anxiety and management of visual hallucination while in isolation. We have also had some excellent research updates on COVID-19 and PD and how they affect one another.
